THE ADMINISTRATIVE BOARD
The Administrative Board, which meets at least
6 times a year, is composed of 25 members :
- 2 administrators designated by the Bordeaux Chamber of Commerce and Industry
- 5 administrators who represent the local public authorities (Town of Bordeaux, the Gironde Department, Aquitaine Region, the Bordeaux Urban Community and the Le Verdon Community)
- 5 representatives elected from the Port Authority staff
- 1 representative of the dock workers
- 3 administrators representing the State (State Council, Ministry of the Economy and Finance, the Prefect of the Aquitaine Region)
- 3 people chosen from a list of 4 port users, drawn-up by the Bordeaux Chamber of Commerce and Industry
- 7 administrators, « qualified persons », of which at least 4
are port users (shipowners, industrialists, oil traders, port
related service providers...).
A Government Commissioner designated by the Ministry of Equipment,
Transport and Housing, Tourism and Sea, also participates at meetings
of the Board, as well as a State Controller designated by the Ministry
of Economy, Finance and Industry. Once formed or renewed, under the
chairmanship of the Prefect, the Board of Administrators elects a
Bureau. Finally, it may delegate certain of its powers to the Management
Committee or to the Port’s Chief Executive Officer.
